CONSTRUCTION

Our team has experience of working on domestic and commercial construction projects and fully understand the risks posed by the works that are undertaken through the life cycle of these projects. These projects often take place in reasonably small areas near other dwellings or commercial properties, meaning these sites are often busy and there is an increased risk of harm to members of the public as well as the operatives working on site. Salus Safety Solutions can provide professional and cost effective support to clients working in these industries.

SOLAR

Solar projects are fast paced short duration projects which on the surface pose very little risk compared to other construction projects. The reality is that the speed of the projects and the fact that solar projects in the UK tend to use multinational workforce all increase the risk of incidents. The Salus Safety Solutions team have experience of working in the solar industry and have the knowledge to work in this fast-paced environment whilst developing and communicating legally compliant practical solutions.

ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING

There are now more than 35,000 charge point connectors across the UK in over 13,000 locations – that’s more public places to charge than petrol stations, with around 7,000 charge point connectors added in 2020 alone and the biggest increase was in the new ultra-rapid chargers. The electric vehicle charging point industry is growing rapidly as the world begins to move away from petrol and diesel powered cars and closer to a reliance on electrical vehicles. Salus Safety Solutions have used their experience of the utilities industry to support our Clients who are designing, installing operating the electric vehicle charging points that are being installed across the UK.

BATTERY/ENERGY STORAGE

Battery (energy) storage is expected to play a key role in the UK and Europe’s future Smart Grid and Salus Safety Solutions Ltd are already involved with the leading developers in the UK. This new contract now means that Salus Safety Solutions are now working on battery (energy) storage projects with a capacity in excess of 180MW.

We are proactively supporting Clients in identifying and solving the challenges associated with this innovative technology. One of the biggest challenges we have faced is breaking down the preconception that these projects are simple plug and play installations when the reality from a health, safety and environmental perspective is very different. The most significant risks that need to be considered and ultimately managed centre around the Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH), The Control of Substance Hazardous to Health, Confined Spaces, Fire, Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres. We are currently working hard with our Clients to ensure that a proportionate and robust risk management policy is adopted on each project.
